I placed my hand against the wall, feeling it shift rhythmically under my palm. A pulse. I suddenly realized that I was a tiny creature nestled within the bowels of a large, almost imperceptible being. It was alive—and it knew that I was here.

Disturbed by this newfound awareness, my instinct was to cower under the bed, afraid that this entity sought to harm me. But as the hours passed, nothing happened. I silently wondered what it wanted with me.

Almost immediately, I received an answer. It did not speak to me in a literal sense, but I understood what it wanted to convey.
“Here I am,” it seemed to whisper. “I see you. You are not alone.”
